I just got my copies of the re-issue of the first Bikini Kill LP from BIKINI KILL RECORDS today. Unfortunately I missed out on the first 200 copies containing a poster designed by BK member Kathi Wilcox (Frumpies, Casual Dots)… Let the ebay troll begin on that one… Anyway it’s pretty awesome and has a bunch of cool pictures not in the original pressing as well as a liner notes and cool quotes from Molly Neuman of BratMobile, Ian from Fugazi and Minor Threat as well as a bunch of excerpts from early fanzines like Jigsaw. Also I got some fun buttons to pin on my new Bikini Kill tote bag.

Fun night in Chelsea, all star cast. Everyone met up at NYC printing powerhouse PUBLICIDE INC. for a glass of champaign. Lisa Darms of Fails Library (keeper of the Riot GRRRL collection) convinced us all that we should go see Jack Smith’s work at Gladstone Gallery. With painter Nolan Hendrickson Seagull Senior Editor Molly McCommons Dusty of PUBLICIDE INC and myself in tow, we trudged up to a very busy 24th street. The weather was lovely and Jack Smiths work was really witchy and graphic; right on pointe for what we here at ShaunSureThing.com love these days.
After that Molly, Dusty and I headed over to performance art space, The Kitchen for Emily Roysdon’s collaboration with all of NYC feminist heavy hitters. The performance entitled A Gay Bar For Everyone (with costumes and no practice) which has it’s second and final installment tonight was totally surprising and fun. With interwoven scenes by Vanessa Anspaugh and Aretha Aoki, Jibz Cameron, Dean Daderko, Celeste Dupuy-Spencer, Nicole Eisenman, Barbara Hammer, K8 Hardy, Yve Laris Cohen, Thomas J. Lax and Elaine Carberry, Neal Medlyn, MPA, Jeanine Oleson, Will Rawls, Charles Ryan, JD Samson, A.L. Steiner, Sacha Yanow there was no way this night was going to be boring.

Fun to watch people talk about Riot Grrrl. You ALL know how obsessed I am with this subject matter and how ABSOLUTELY THRILLED I am that it’s officially back on the table.
